BIODEGRADABLE

Biodegradable waste is organic waste that we generate daily and that can be transformed by decomposition into natural fertilizer (compost).

Examples:

YES

leftover fresh or cooked fruit and vegetables, leftover bread and cereals, coffee grounds / tea leftovers including sachets, eggshells, walnut shells, ash from stoves (when burning only wood), sawdust, hay and straw, vegetable waste from the yard (chopped leaves, branches and twigs, flowers), houseplants, chopped pieces of wood, newspapers, shredded cardboard – wet and dirty, paper towels.

NO

leftover meat and fish, cooked or fresh, leftover dairy products (milk, cream, cheese, yoghurt, butter, cream), whole eggs, animal fats and vegetable oils, pet excrement, ash from stoves (if charcoal burns in addition to wood), vegetable waste from the yard (if treated with pesticide), treated or painted wood.

HOUSEHOLD WASTE

Household waste is all non-recyclable waste.

Examples:

YES

food scraps (meat, dairy, vegetables, eggs), disposable diapers, absorbents, pet waste / excrement, vacuum cleaner bag contents, cigarette butts, used napkins, very dirty packaging, shards of ceramic and porcelain, very dirty disposable tableware, ash from stoves (if charcoal burns in addition to wood), vegetable waste from the yard (if treated with pesticide), treated or painted wood, etc.

NO

Textile waste, footwear, earth, sand, gravel, waste electrical and electronic equipment and batteries, accumulators, vehicle components (dismantling parts), tires, construction and demolition waste, bulky waste (furniture, carpets, mattresses, etc.).

PACKAGING

Plastic, metal, paper, cardboard

Plastic / metal

Plastic containers (PETs) to be rinsed with cold water; plastic packaging that cannot be cleaned is collected as household waste (non-recyclable). Remove the lid and press the packages. This saves space.

Examples:

plastic cans and boxes, plastic bags, plastic protective packaging, plastic toys, beverage cans, cans, Tetra Pack boxes (milk and juice boxes) etc.

NO

combined metal and plastic products, construction polystyrene, cans / drums with paint residues, thinners or other hazardous chemicals, medical waste (e.g. used syringes), etc.

Paper / cardboard

Folding saves space!

Examples:

YES

magazines, newspapers, waste paper, envelopes; boxes, photos, egg cartons, pizza boxes, etc. (clean and dry)

NO

paper and cardboard containing food waste, used napkins and kitchen paper, glossy wrapping paper.

GLASS

The glass containers to be emptied and rinsed before disposal.

Examples:

YES

glass packaging (without lid), jars (without lid), bottles, glass packaging for cosmetics, etc.

NO

mirrors, windows, porcelain products, ceramics, crystal / heat resistant dishes etc.
